February 18, 2005MÖTLEY CRÜE frontman Vince Neil officially announced the 2005 Skylar Neil Memorial Golf Tournament and ZRock Crue for the Cure rock-a-thon backstage at the Office Depot Center Thursday night (Feb. 17) prior to CRÜE's North American tour opener. The 2005 Skylar Neil Memorial Golf Tournament will be held on Cinco de Mayo — Thursday, May 5 at the beautiful Malibu Country Club in Malibu, CA. ZRock Crue for the Cure's online rock-a-thon will relaunch shortly with incredible thank-you prizes from Vince Neil and ZRock.
ZRock Crue for the Cure enables rock fans around the globe to help find a cure for these diseases by participating in online rock-a-thons as well as local market charity events. 100 percent of all donations will directly benefit the TJ Martell Foundation.
In 1995, Vince Neil lost his four-year-old daughter Skylar to stomach cancer. The Skylar Neil Memorial Foundation has donated nearly $1 million to various charity organizations for leukemia, cancer and AIDS research. All proceeds from the tournament will be distributed to the TJ Martell Foundation. The TJ Martell Foundation was founded in 1975 by music industry executive Tony Martell and his colleagues in memory of his son, T.J., a victim of leukemia. To date, the Foundation has raised more than $175 million to fund research into innovative cures and treatments of leukemia, cancer and AIDS at nine research facilities throughout the United States.
